Systemic Risks and Fragile Networks

Many of the greatest challenges of the 21st century are expected to arise from systemic challenges. These include the complex interactions between a rising global population, greater pressure being placed on natural resources, more complex supply chains, and an increasing reliance on both on interconnected technologies and interconnected markets.

The rate of development in these connected areas mean that the connections, and the emergent risks, remain poorly understood. A theme that is relevant to many strands of CSER’s research is the role of emerging technologies in these systemic challenges. We welcome discussions and potential collaborations with experts in systemic risk, complexity and fragility, who are interested in applying this expertise to global risks and emerging technologies.
